Dongducheon grew from northern Yangju through the Gyeongwon railway, military bases and its 1963 elevation to city status. These were separate events, and the city also belongs to railway workers, merchants, factory workers and residents, not only military history. The article separates oral memory, documented events, plans and completed operation. Check dated official notices, remain in public space, respect residents and workers, and never generalize one visit to the whole city.
