A knowledge district was written over rural place names

South of the older centre, new apartments, company buildings, construction zones and wide roads overlap. The project aims to combine housing with industry and offices rather than create only a commuter town. Its futuristic name sits on land that already held rural communities in Galhyeon-dong and Munwon-dong.

Designation was the beginning of negotiation

Official city material records designation as a public housing district in 2011, plan approval in 2012 and the start of construction in 2016. Compensation, revisions, infrastructure and phased completion followed. A first phase may be complete while later work continues in 2026, so designation, move-in and completion must not be collapsed into one date.

Old names preserve a previous map

Names such as Garugae, Gaeil, Beolmal and Chaneumul recall natural villages. A story says King Jeongjo praised the cold water at Chaneumul; it should be introduced as tradition rather than proven fact. Such names are neither decoration nor automatic opposition to development. They record how the ground was used and remembered before blocks and corporate addresses.

Residents begin life before every school, shop, park and road opens. Observe only from public paths, yield to construction vehicles and school traffic, and never enter unopened roads. The meaningful sight is not a polished rendering but the honest mismatch of farm memory, housing policy, corporate recruitment and daily routines moving at different speeds.
