Hampyeong holds separate histories: Yongcheonsa traditions, Kim Cheol’s independence movement, wartime civilian losses, and today’s butterfly and flower festivals. Stories of different periods and character should not be reduced to one causal arc.
In particular, civilian suffering is not framed as healed or overcome by tourism success. Respecting each place and experience on its own terms gives a more accurate view of Hampyeong’s many layers.
