Hantangang gorge connects volcanic geology with lived routes

Hantangang cliffs formed as rivers cut through layers of cooled lava. Columns, pillow lava and older granite vary by site, and Global Geopark status is not World Heritage. The river also carried ferries, farm routes and village movement before modern bridges and trails.
