Look beyond a single scene
She was a Joseon queen and Korean empress assassinated by Japanese agents, while assessments of her politics remain debated. Victimhood and political interpretation should not be collapsed into a simple hero story.
Separate evidence from interpretation
A birthplace is both domestic architecture and a later public memorial. Visitors should distinguish surviving fabric, reconstructed rooms and educational objects rather than assume every display belonged to the empress. Her assassination by Japanese agents remains a clear act of violence, while critical debate about her political choices need not be suppressed.
