Jeongok hand axes changed the framework of Korean Paleolithic research

An Acheulean-type hand axe found in 1978 challenged a simple division between western hand-axe cultures and an East Asian chopper tradition. The discovery by Greg Bowen mattered because excavation, stratigraphy and later comparison turned a surface find into shared knowledge; it did not erase every earlier theory overnight. Use dated official information, remain in public areas, respect residents and workers, and record uncertainty instead of filling it with a dramatic claim.
