Old Gimpo around Sau and Bukbyeon preserves layers of county administration, markets, schools and later metropolitan growth. Despite its name, Gimpo Airport is now located in Gangseo-gu, Seoul; the airport’s regional influence and its legal address must be distinguished. City promotion, new housing and the Goldline dispersed some central functions without erasing current residents and businesses. Small parcels, older shops, apartments and civic facilities reveal different development phases. Walk between city hall, Sau, Geolpo-Bukbyeon and commercial streets, label redevelopment as planned, approved, demolished or under construction, and avoid treating renderings as completed reality.
