Across the fields of Jungnim-ri and Sanggap-ri in Gochang stand hundreds of dolmens left behind by Bronze Age communities. The density of the site is considered rare even by world standards, and the stones — some large, some small — still sit exactly where they were raised. The people who erected them had no writing system. But they had another way of preserving memory.
Moving and raising stones weighing several tons could not have been easy labor. And yet people took on that burden anyway.
