Hwaeomsa’s Four Lion Three-story Stone Pagoda is a National Treasure from Unified Silla. Four lions support the upper base around a central figure, facing a kneeling figure on the stone lantern opposite.
A tradition interprets the figures as Master Yeongi and his mother, expressing filial devotion, but this is not certain. The unsupported claim that Jajang built it in 642 has been removed.
