On April 16, 2014, the Sewol ferry sank in the waters of Maenggol Sudo, off the coast of Jindo. Paengmok Harbor is where the remains of victims were recovered, and it is also where, for a long time afterward, the families of those not yet found stayed and waited for their loved ones.
This harbor had originally been an ordinary fishing port. But since that spring, Paengmok Harbor has become a place inseparable from the word waiting. What visitors here need is not a detailed retracing of that day's events, but an effort to understand the hearts of those who endured that time in this place.
