Imjingak is not merely a lookout toward the North. It stands beside a railway and road corridor where ordinary movement stopped after war and division. Mangbaedan preserves the rituals of displaced people who bow toward hometowns and relatives they could not reach, while museums and monuments record abduction, flight, captivity and return. The buildings, memorials, Peace Nuri park and commercial attractions were added at different times, so they should not be treated as one wartime scene. Visitors should distinguish Imjingak, Freedom Bridge and the Dokgae Bridge, follow current identity-document and photography rules, and read the site as a layered record of interrupted mobility, mourning, tourism and border control.
