Jungnangcheon is both flood infrastructure and an everyday waterfront

Jungnangcheon gathers waterways from Uijeongbu and flows toward Seoul. It is an urban river and flood-control corridor, not only a leisure park. Embankments, bridges, drains and gauges manage heavy rain, while channel works and riverside facilities also alter habitat. Claims of “restoration” should distinguish ecological recovery from newly designed amenity space. On ordinary days, walkers, cyclists, students, pets and maintenance workers share narrow routes; wildlife observation never authorises entering habitat. During rain or rising water, obey closures and avoid low paths and stepping stones. Record bridge, bank, date, weather and water level, using flood-control data rather than generalising one section to the entire river.
