The Uijeongbu light rail is an automated elevated line connecting Balgok, the centre, city hall and eastern residential districts. It sought to link neighbourhoods shaped by hills, streams and existing roads, but map proximity does not guarantee easy transfer. The project faced demand, finance and operating-structure problems after opening; past bankruptcy should not be mistaken for current service closure. Elevated infrastructure offers regular movement while stairs, lifts, noise and station access affect users differently. Automation relocates human work to control, maintenance and safety. Measure transfers at Hoeryong, City Hall and Tapseok, follow current fare and disruption notices, and distinguish proposed extensions from lines actually open.
