Hoeamsa grew into a major temple through late-Goryeo Buddhist networks and early-Joseon royal patronage. Its terraced plan and court-related objects show unusual status; the site entered UNESCO’s Tentative List in 2022, which is not the same as World Heritage inscription. The account separates oral tradition, documented history, excavation, reconstruction and current operation. At the site, check dated official notices, respect residents and workers, and record changes instead of generalising one visit to all of Yangju.
