Read the structure first
A regional museum does more than display a famous object. Maps, excavation records and local materials reconnect the stele to villages, river routes and other heritage, while objects not on view continue through cataloguing, research, environmental control and conservation work.
Separate evidence and reconstruction
The museum and temple site preserve complementary absences. At Godalsa one can read scale and terrain; indoors one can inspect the inscribed stone and damage. Moving an object sacrifices some original context while reducing exposure, and rotating exhibitions remind visitors that storage, research and conservation are as important as display.
