The Taebaek Mountains Literature Museum · ⛰️

2008. A stage that existed only within the pages of a novel became a walking tour led by the author himself

The Taebaek Mountains Literature Museum was established in Beolgyo township on November 21, 2008. It was founded with the goal of establishing this region as a premier destination for literary pilgrimage worldwide, by providing richer information and greater convenience to the visitors who came to Beolgyo seeking the world of the novel The Taebaek Mountains.

Around the time of the museum's opening, author Jo Jeong-rae personally led readers on a walking tour of the novel's settings, an event known as "The Taebaek Mountains Literary Pilgrimage with Author Jo Jeong-rae." During this tour, the author walked alongside his readers to Sohwa's house, the Hyeon family's house, Jungdo embankment, and the Namdo Inn (the Boseong Inn) — the real-life settings behind the novel — sharing the stories woven into the work in his own words. A stage that had existed only in text and imagination was thus completed, through the author's own voice, into a walking tour that readers could actually follow in person.
