Gangnam Station Is a Transfer City Larger Than Its Platforms

After Line 2 opened here in 1982, Gangnam became a southeastern hub; Shinbundang and many city and regional buses connected southern Gyeonggi. Passengers continue from trains into malls, stops, offices, and academies. The station’s real scale is its pedestrian network.

Exit numbers do not replace orientation

First establish east and west sides of Gangnam-daero and the directions of Teheran-ro and Seocho-daero. Median bus stops differ from curb stops. Foreign visitors should save both English building and road names.

Regional bus queues map long-distance commuting

Long evening lines reveal housing expansion into Gyeonggi. Do not cross queues for photographs or ignore boarding order. Routes and stops change with construction and policy; use live information.

Choose a safe place to stop

Move away from gates and escalators before checking maps. If separated, meet outside at a named building, not on a platform. Locate elevators and legal road crossings for wheelchairs and strollers.
