The dolmen sites of Gochang, Hwasun, and Ganghwa were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000. UNESCO describes them as displaying exceptional density and variety in Korea and internationally.
More than 440 dolmens of different types have been recorded at Gochang. Inscription recognized these prehistoric tombs and their megalithic culture as heritage to be protected collectively.
