Unjoru House was built by Ryu I-ju in 1776 and is now National Folklore Cultural Heritage. It preserves a rice chest marked “Taineunghae,” meaning that another person may open it.
It is known as a symbol of sharing rice with neighbors in need. Detailed accounts of exactly how it was used are treated as tradition, while the confirmed date and meaning remain central.
