Yeosu's Romantic Pocha Street (낭만포차거리) is a street of seaside food stalls set up on a plaza beneath Geobukseon Bridge (Turtle Ship Bridge). It wasn't always located here. The street originally began at Yeosu's Old Harbor Marine Park in the Jung-ang-dong district, but due to parking shortages and noise complaints from nearby residents, it relocated to its current site on October 1, 2019.
The word "romantic" in the street's name is no coincidence. This food-stall street is essentially what turned the romantic image created by the song "Yeosu Night Sea" into something people can actually walk through, eat at, and drink in. Rows of pocha (street food stalls) line the waterfront, selling raw fish and skewers as visitors look out over Yeosu's night sea. If the song built the city's image, this street is the place where that image gets converted into an actual product and experience to be consumed. It stands as perhaps the most direct example of how Yeosu turned its own image into a tourism economy.
